The Pew Center for Research conducted a survey of adults over the age of 18, asking how they have used their smartphones, and to what extent. Phone calls and texts are a given. Location-based uses are growing rapidly. The top use was getting directions. There was almost no difference between age groups, with at least 82% reporting such usage. Consumption of streaming media services and participation in chats, as well as online purchasing were all growing. While these may be thought of as consumer behaviors, they also touch on the mobile lives of business persons. As Millenials and GenXers fill the ranks of business executives, they as well as their Boomer forebears flit seamlessly between business and pleasure purposes.
