The Small Business Administration will announce that the goal of awarding 5% of government contracts to women owned businesses, originally established in 1994, has been met for 2015. A total of $17.8 billion in contracts were awarded to businesses with 51% female ownership. The formal announcement will be made at the National Press Club, and include statements by Maria Contreras-Sweet, SBA Administrator, Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to the President, and Rep. Nydia Velasquez of New York.
