FTC Steps Up Telemarketing Enforcement

Lois Greisman, Associate Director, FTC’s Division of Marketing Practices, testified before the Senate Special Committee on Aging to describe the FTC's ongoing effort to enforce the Do Not Call Registry and in particular protect senior citizens from annoying if not fraudulent robocalls. Telemarketing lists for business or consumer use must be in compliance with Do Not Call enrollment. Guidelines are available to businesses. The FTC described a number of efforts, including a technology competition called Robocalls: Humanity Strikes Back.
