Three years into the Your AdChoices campaign to inform and educate consumers about their ability to opt out of targeted ads, awareness of the campaign and recognition of the icon is extremely low. The Digital Advertising Alliance launched the campaign in 2010 with a public service ad campaign by McCann Worldgroup's MRM unit. The problem seems to a combination of people not seeing the icon, not understanding its purpose if they see it and even if they see it and click on it, of not being clear as to what it really does.
