An FTC sting operation has revealed what the agency believes to be violations of the Fair Credit reporting Act (FCRA) . Warning etters have been sent to 10 out of 45 data brokering companies involved in the test-shopping procedure conducted by FTC staff members posing as companies or individuals seeking data related to the credit worthiness, insurability or potential employment of consumers. The FTC sent the letters in conjunction with an international privacy practice compliance sweep run by the Global Privacy Enforcement Network (GPEN).
