The Pew Research Center conducts surveys with qualified respondents on many issues, by various means. This is not unlike direct mailers marketing by direct mail, email and telephone. For their purposes, Pew researchers have discoverd a steady rise in mobile-only use versus landlines. Based on recent data, over 46% of phone users only use mobile. So, for survey interviews in 2015, Pew will contact 65% of phone users via mobile versus landline, up from 60%. There are good reasons why survey respondents are not called exclusively on mobile phones, federal law prohibiting automatic dialing among them. Read more
