In a recent poll conducted by the Pew Research Center, only 27% of respondents could identify suspended NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams from a photo. In a similar survey from 1985, 47% could identify Dan Rather of CBS News. This is part of an overall trend that cuts across all age groups away from consuming news on TV. The overall audience is less than half what it was in 1993. The gap between then and now is far wider for younger age group. The implications for marketers is clear; the eyeballs are going elsewhere.
