OOPS! Even the data wizards at MIT can fall victim to sloppy list cleaning and consolidation (merge/purge). It appears that in the course of performing this function on multiple lists, an incorrect footer migrated to what was intended to be a general communication to pending applicants, identifying them as admitted applicants. "I got into MIT!" (Sorry, you're still pending.) The Lesson: Use of a (time-saving) third party platform still demands diligence. Sincere apologies were issued and hopefuly the damage was minimal.
