The Microsoft Corporation has come forward in support of fresh, world-class U.S. oversight of data privacy. Microsoft is alone among tech giants like Amazon, Google and Twitter taking such a stance in response to an invitation from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to comment on its Big Data report. They are concerned in particular about the ability to compete for the exploding global cloud storage and computing business in the wake of high profile security and surveillance gaffs. The IAB and DMA oppose such additional measures.
