S.T.E.M. The Tide

Happenings: Mailinglists.com

Federal and state governments are examining how to reconcile subsidies for higher education with the outcomes they produce. Specifically, the job readiness of students to enter fields that are in higher demand, typified by curriculums that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.). Performance-based funding, as it is often called has taken the form of a range of rubrics applied by a number of states. The debate has given voice to calls for moderation, so that the qualities nurtured by a more rounded, liberal higher education are not lost in the fray. A huge number of K-12 educational platforms and products have appeared to support the range of subjects and scenarios for learning 21st Century skills. They are analog and digital, face to face and remote.
