Branded Emojis

Happenings: Mailinglists.com

For some time direct marketers have heard about the power of images. From videos to infographics, many metrics support the case. The next big thing is perhaps the simplest: branded emojis. From cars to diapers, hamburgers to tacos, custom emojis have been appearing in marketing campaigns for major brands. Facebook has expanded its array of "like" buttons. They have been crowdsourced. Bespoke emojis have been created at great cost by design firms. Sources of their appeal is the ability to transcend language and avoid ad blockers. (Hopefully spam filters will not flag them in email as they have with some images in the past.) Direct marketers may join this trend in any number of ways. Custom branded emojis might even migrate to print media, as part of a QR code response mechanism. Emoji based responses may replace text prompted calls to action.
